Another George Gunn

[edit]

There's a Scottish writer/poet by that name. He probably doesn't warrant a page, but we should mention him on top of this article, just for people who were looking for that one. [1] 99.11.160.111 (talk) 19:53, 11 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If the Scottish writer/poet merits an article (and from your link it looks as though he does) and someone writes one, then it would be appropriate to add the standard disambiguation text at the top of the cricketer's article, including a wl to the other article. But I don't think that I've ever seen something like that done when the other person lacks an article. A reader only has to get as far as "George Gunn (June 13, 1879, Hucknall, Nottinghamshire – June 29, 1958, Cuckfield, Sussex) was an English cricketer" and they will know that it's not about the Scottish writer. That involves reading hardly any more words than if the other George Gunn was mentioned at the top of the article. JH (talk page) 20:28, 11 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

– :Pageview analysis over two years shows that the cricketer gets less than 50% of the combined traffic for the five people named "George Gunn" on the disambiguation page. George Ward Gunn alone gets nearly as many views. BD2412 T 04:17, 12 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
